Dialogues for our Future Initiative

Asia Pacific Initiative (API) is an independent private think tank whose predecessor, the Japan Institute for National Fundamentals, was founded in 2011. It has worked on intellectual dialogue, policy research and cultural exchange toward a free, open and sustainable future.

It is known for independent reviews and recommendations made apart from government — such as the private commission that investigated the Fukushima nuclear accident and the private commission that reviewed Japan's COVID-19 response.

HELM. art-directed the gala celebrating its 10th anniversary. In July 2022, API merged with the International House of Japan, a public interest foundation, and continues its work under that organization today.

Invisible bonds between people give rise to new teams and projects. We expressed this with circles and lines in ten colors, and carried it across the website, film, print tools and the entire venue.

Connections can't be seen, yet they link us; something is born from them, and it carries on. That is the meaning behind the logo and visuals.

With the support of waiwairua, we extended the graphics into the spatial design. We produced materials for VIP guests including the Prime Minister and cabinet ministers, the guest list, the opening film, interview videos and the website.
