The Tokyo Ballet

We went through much trial and error to express the presence and dignity of a Japanese ballet company. Ballet comes from abroad, but the corps de ballet technique of Japanese companies is something to be proud of worldwide.

Precisely because the company performs around the world, we deliberately placed the rising sun at the center, proposing a simple, universal logo.

We created projection mapping for The Nutcracker, December's signature production. The audience doesn't come to see video, so it stays strictly in a supporting role that enhances the stage.

We tested many scenarios on a scale model, and in the second year it toured nationally — Miyagi, Niigata, Hiroshima, Tokyo and more. At Tokyo Bunka Kaikan, a new, nearly transparent scrim brought the dancers and the projections together.
